Do you remember?

Deuteronomy 20: 1, 2 – … do not be afraid of them, because the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you.

How reassuring to know that the Lord our God is with us. The following word “who” describes who He is and what He has done for the children of Israel.

That verse ends by saying “who brought you up from the land of Egypt.” That journey was not easy. Pharaoh made it very challenging for them, the Israelites, who were slaves in Egypt, to leave. The Israelites saw God’s mighty hand at work in their lives and around them working on their behalf. (See Exodus ch 5-15.)

There’s always a story behind the who.

Reflect on your life. How would you describe who God is and what He has done for you?

For me, it would be God who healed my broken heart. This reminds me that God is a Healer. My journey towards a restored heart took years. The thing is my mindset had to change as well, and God helped my to exchange my negative, non-productive thoughts for thoughts of truth, from God’s Word, the Bible. Before God healed my heart, I was broken from my parents’ marriage. It was one of hurt and pain. I was under the impression that I’d have a similar marriage, and so I vowed that I wouldn’t get married. I would rather have a child and raise the child by myself. Today, my mindset is completely changed, my heart is healed and I’m happily married. My marriage is whole and full of God’s joy and peace. If God can do it for me, He can certainly do it for you.

Be encouraged,
